Sainsbury's Bag Packing
Fundraising Day - Sunday, 21 December 2008
Nationally, Sainsbury's have invited Scouts into their stores over the two weekends before Christmas for groups to fundraise. This is part of a major partnership between The Scout Association and Sainsbury's More.
Locally, Sainsbury's Newbury (postcode: RG14 5AB) are letting us in on Sunday, 21 December to pack bags for shoppers.
The store is open from 10:00 until 16:00; there are thirty-four checkouts at the store. If we can man twenty of these checkouts for six hours and earn at least £10 per hour per checkout, we could raise over £1200 in one day!
As Scouts, we offer to pack shoppers' groceries for free. If they choose to make a donation this is a bonus. The majority of customers, are happy to donate a few pounds into the pot knowing it's supporting a good project.
Not only will everyone in the Unit will benefit from the funds, but it's fun too. Scouts participating can earn part of the Community Challenge badge at the same time.
We ask you to please commit to one three-hour shift. We need to know in advance so we can plan the day. When we're there, you'll get a collection bucket and some guidance on what to do and say... and don't forget to wear your uniform too. On the day, you should arrive fifteen minutes before your shift in order to sign in.
